“The Asai Family Wants to Look Out for Us!”

What They Say:
University student Shinichi Sakurai is comfortable being an introverted loner and doesn’t care what others think. Buxom underclassmen Hana Uzaki doesn’t understand this one bit. A tornado of joy, she’s taken it upon herself to make him more social. Starting to enjoy her company, he’d concede that they’re friends. Can it be possible to have as much fun with another person as he would by himself?

Ami Asai is an employee at the café that Shinichi works at. Her hobby is observing people. Hmm, that kind of reminds me of the owner. That’s not surprising as it turns out that Ami is his daughter! She’s been watching Shinichi ever since he started working here. She likes what she sees. She’s even caught drooling at the thought of his hot bod! Is she crushing on him? Or does she simply like observing him? Maybe both? Either way. she’s definitely interested in him. She’s not the only one. Apparently, Shinichi has got a lot of lady fans at the café. What a stud. Is this going to become a harem show soon? Things start to quiet down at the café. And than Uzaki shows up.

Ami has never seen this girl before. Who is she? Why did she just high five her dad!? Shinichi explains to her that Uzaki is a sophomore at his college. He then starts talking with Uzaki about the game that he lent her. From Ami’s perspective, it looks like they’re really good friends. Or wait, are they more than friends!? She has to find out! Ami serves Uzaki a glass of water and takes a closer look at her. Gosh, she’s adorable! She’s almost like a cute little animal. Almost. That giant rack of hers makes her a beast. In Ami’s own words, wowsers! Calm down, Ami! Uzaki tells Ami about her history with Shinichi. Afterward, Ami walks back to the counter where her dad is waiting. She is very amused by Uzaki! Her dad totally gets what she means. You want to meddle in their business but it’s more fun to watch how things will turn out. Yup, watching Shinichi and Uzaki is great. I can’t believe they’re bonding over this right now, haha. Suddenly, Uzaki gets up and crashes into Shinichi who’s holding a pitcher of water. They both get soaking wet, oh my! They start bickering immediately. Ami is definitely enjoying the show these two put on. She considers getting more shifts.

The next day, Shinichi stays at home because he has a cold. That’s a shame. Uzaki wanted to tease him! If only she could visit him at home! Actually, she can because the owner gives her his address. I thought you weren’t supposed to meddle, owner! The spunky Uzaki visits Shinichi at his place and he immediately passes out after opening the door. Dang, he’s really sick. Uzaki that he might have been faking it. Well, it looks like she has to take care of him now! She goes out and buys him medicine. She also picks up some ingredients to make him a nice meal. Once she returns to Shinichi’s place, she makes him a bowl of rice porridge. Ah yes, the classic. He eats it and even compliments Uzaki on her cooking. Granted, he can’t really taste anything but it was probably good. You know what? She’ll take the compliment! Now that he’s done eating, it’s time to strip! Kinky. But seriously, she just wants to wipe his sweat off. She forcefully takes off Shinichi’s shirt to reveal that he’s freaking ripped. He’s got a six-pack! I know he was on the swim team in high school but I haven’t seen him do anything but be lazy since being in college. Where did he find the time to retain that physique!? Anywho, Uzaki wipes the sweat off and then sends him off to sleep with some medicine. Shinichi thanks her for help today. Uzaki says she’ll go home once he goes to sleep. In the meantime, she’ll be playing video games. Immediately, she starts yelling at the game. Shinichi offers to let her take the game and console home but she refuses to go home a loser! I don’t think he’s getting much sleep tonight.

The next day, Shinichi is feeling much better. Ami invites him to a Korean barbecue place to celebrate his recovery! They’re joined by her father and Uzaki. Let’s be honest, Ami and her dad just want to enjoy the show that is Shinichi and Uzaki. And that’s exactly what they do! Shinichi and Uzaki never fail to entertain when they’re together. Uzaki goes to the bathroom and the father and daughter duo use this opportunity to ambush Shinichi. They’re glad that Uzaki took good care of him yesterday. Now give them the details! They start piling up all of the good meat on his plate in an attempt to bribe him, haha. He doesn’t appreciate being pressured! He likes his quiet, loner lifestyle. Uzaki is the complete opposite of that. The father and daughter tandem comment that he’s being too gloomy right now. Hey, Shinichi happens to enjoy his lifestyle! Also, he doesn’t want people to get the wrong idea about them. He lives close to the campus and he doesn’t want rumors spreading about them. Father and daughter are pained just by hearing him talk! This seems a bit complicated. They decide to just let it be. It’ll be juicier this way! They must be patient if they want to enjoy a good show. Uzaki comes back from the restroom and everyone continues chatting. She realizes that Shinichi calls Ami by her first name. Why doesn’t he call her by her first name!? She gets pouty and stays that way for the rest of the night. Shinichi doesn’t know what he did wrong. Ah yes, this is the show that the Asai family wanted to see! These two, I swear.

At school the following day, Uzaki attempts to hypnotize Shinichi. Okay? That’s a bit random. Shinichi thinks this is dumb but decides to pretend that he’s hypnotized. He still owes her for taking care of him when he was sick. Now that’s “hypnotized”, what does Uzaki want him to do? She wants him to call her by her first name. Is that all? That seems simple enough. In reality, it isn’t. It’s a little embarrassing. He gets her name wrong the first few tries before finally calling her Hana. She’s super happy! The people around them think they’re a bunch of love-dummies. Uzaki feels like she has the power now! What else can she make him do? She starts demanding that Shinichi buy her a whole bunch of things but he’s obviously not going to. Instead, he smacks her on the head. She shouldn’t have pushed her luck. In a hilarious twist, Shinichi then accidentally hypnotizes Uzaki, haha. She simply looks at him with an empty look in her eyes. Oh no! How does he fix her!?!?

In the after-credits scene, it seems Shinichi eventually snapped her out of it. They argue with each other over whether she was really hypnotized or not at the café. Yay, a free show! You know what they say – you can’t hypnotize someone unless they really trust you.

In Summary:
Like father, like daughter. It’s amazing that Ami is just like her dad. They both ship Shinichi and Uzaki. Er, I mean they both enjoy observing Shinichi and Uzaki. Hey, they are pretty entertaining together. It’s hilarious how they communicate without even having to talk with each other. It must be the glasses. While the comedy was there, as usual, there were also a few genuinely wholesome moments in this episode. Shinichi thanking Uzaki for taking care of him while he was sick was nice. She doesn’t often get praised by him. It was also adorable when Uzaki was pouting because Shinichi didn’t call her by her first name. She’s pretty cute when she lets her true feelings take over. And the whole hypnotizing shtick at the end was silly. Entertaining, but silly. All things considered, this was another fun episode.
