it's just hilarious

“Sweet Olympia”

What They Say:
Demetrios was a young man in Ancient Greece who was a potter’s apprentice, but also a rather timid otaku. Despite pursuing the arts, he was blessed with natural athletic talent. One day, he gets dragged into a village conflict. Demetrios contemplates how helpless he is, but then is struck by lightning! When he comes to, he is no longer in Greece, but a strange land where he can’t understand the language and people look rather different. Yes, he somehow ended up 1964 Tokyo! Of course, Demetrios has no idea what Japan even is. What will become of him?!

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Demetrius finds himself having to judge a race between a couple of other residents who are arguing over who won, whether by a chin or a nose in a comical way. It’s amusing watching how everyone is getting into it with each other over the competition but we also get a lot of people not participating because they don’t think they’ll win any prizes so it’s not worth the effort. Which is why it’s ideal that Demetrius ends up whisked away to 1964 again and learns of baseball cards, which are like paintings of gods to him. Demetrius also gets to check out the “throat boast” where everyone gets to sing a bit but it’s amusing that he’s worse at this than at painting. But the key here is that everyone gets a participation prize.

In Summary:
Demetrius always has the answers almost literally handed to him when he heads to the future and seeing how he adapts them into his time period is definitely fun. The baseball card side takes a definitely amusing turn but the sweet treat hits the right spot. This episode spent a good bit of time in 1964 and definitely works well for the show as we see just how drawn he is to everything going on there. Between that and these absolutely nuts ending sequences, it’s just hilarious.
