Relationships do not compute for 8 Man.

8 Man After CoverDiscotek Meda performed a license rescue for the 8 Man After anime back in 2016 with a quick pickup and release but they’ve not done much with the property since then. The show has recently found its way onto Crunchyroll and other services where it’s available in its original Japanese language with English subtitles and the previously created English language dub. Availability is limited to the US and Canada since it’s an older release that has been picked apart long ago for rights.

To help promote the show, the folks at RetroCrush have pulled together a five-minute clip where it’s filled with lots and lots of action.

The property hasn’t been in the market for quite some time prior to this rescue. The 1993 four-part OVA series was originally picked up by Streamline Pictures years ago and seeing release on DVD from Image Entertainment fifteen years ago. Unlike the previous release, which was English-language only, this one will be a bilingual release.

Plot concept: Private detective Hazama Itsuru is hired by Professor Tani to investigate a cyborg parts theft which eventually leads him to meet Sachiko Yokogawa, the original 8 Man’s love interest. Living her new life working for the Biotech Corp., Sachiko finds herself involved with a new 8 Man, who appears after Hazama is fatally wounded by an unknown cyborg. Amidst a violent urban background with cyber-junkies creating chaos around the city, this other 8 Man will fight criminals in a more aggressive way.
