Originally serialized in Comic X-Eros from the April 2020 installment, Slacker Bride’s Secret Circumstances is a twenty-page story from creator Satozaki, who just over half a dozen other works on the service. They’ve only had one other story on the service since I last looked at their stuff back in the late summer last year so I was glad to have a new chapter and I’ll definitely be curious if you bring in the word bride. Throw slack into the mix as well and that’ll increase my curiosity to see what you go with. The appeal with Satozaki was some of their storytelling style before but it’s also definitely the quality of the artwork and we definitely get a good looking design with this chapter.

The story focuses on a married couple with a nameless salaryman and his wife Yui. He’s putting in the long hours at work and is just burnt out from it but is extra frustrated as his wife is basically at home all day doing nothing, which is made worse when he does ask her to do things for him like make a meal or something. She’s pretty dismissive of him because she’s frustrated by how little he’s there as well and the whole thing just feels tense. Our Salaryman is pretty frustrated in a sexual way as well and we see that he checks out a few teasing streams from camgirls at work when he gets the chance, though that’s certainly not looked on well. What makes it really problematic is that he ends up doing that one time when his boss walked in and our Salaryman discovers that the cosplaying girl is actually his wife doing that in their bedroom. Suffice to say, he beats feet and heads home quickly.

There are some relationship issues that are covered within this as she panics over him showing up at home so early, but they’re young enough to work it out in a basic way – just while partially on camera, of course. Which has her giving into the ideas of her followers to go all the way with her husband. He just has to wear a paper bag on his head which makes for a hilarious way to read the story. He does get some good thoughts while doing this and it leads to some really amusing panels and dialogue combinations. But the encounter itself is incredibly strong by virtue of the character designs and the cosplay outfit that Yui’s wearing while mixing in floating comments from those that are watching the live show. It’s a great mix of elements that still keeps its focus strongly on the characters themselves and the end result is a really enjoyable story.

In Summary
Satozaki’s artwork is great here as we get varying views of Yui that make for some really fun moments and I love the costume design for the camshow that she puts out. We get some amusing material out of her husband and there’s some charm to the way that they can fix things so quickly and “easily” when you get down to it. And that he was so willing to wear a paper bag on his head and go on camera with his wife. There’s a lot of stories out there that camgirls tell about their work experience with it that are definitely sweet and funny and while this one has some relationship issues mixed into it, it’s still a lot of fun overall.
