Happinet Schedules ‘Sing “Yesterday” For Me’ Anime DVD/BD Box Set Releases

The spring 2020 anime series Sing “Yesterday” For Me is getting its home video release handled by Happinet and they’re going for the box set route. The eighteen-episode run, where it’s doing a twelve-episode broadcast with six episodes additional that will be on streaming after the series ends its broadcast run, is set for the twelve-episode broadcast run to get separate DVD and Blu-ray box sets on August 5th, 2020. They’re priced at 23,000 yen and 27,000 yen respectively. It’ll also include the special six episodes as extras. The set will also come with a special booklet, a box designed by the original creator, a commentary, and the clean ending sequence.

Yoshiyuki Fujiwara directed based on the scripts by Jin Tanaka. Junichiro Taniguchi handled the character designs with Doga Kobo working on the production.

The Japanese cast includes Chikahiro Kobayashi as Rikuo Uozumi, Yume Miyamoto as Haru Nonaka, Kana Hanazawa as Shinako Morinome, Natsuki Hanae as Rō Hayakawa, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Kinoshita, Maaya Sakamoto as Kyōko Sayama, Takuma Terashima as Takanori Fukuda, Aya Suzaki as Kozue Fukuda, Kaori Nazuka as Morita, Shun Horie as Katsumi Takishita, Yuuki Ono as Minato, Eri Kitamura as Chika Huzuhara, and Ryōko Maekawa as Kansuke.

Sing “Yesterday” For Me began in 1997 and ended in 2015 with eleven volumes after making a jump in location over the years. Toume’s had some work published in English with Lament of the Lamb, which got an OVA series, and has several other works ongoing including Kuden no Himegimi.

Plot Concept: The coming-of-age story follows a university graduate named Rikuo who has not been able to find permanent employment after college, a mysterious woman named Haru who has a pet crow, and Rikuo’s former university classmate Shinako.
