“Stop Messing With My Tail!” and “Merry Christmas”

After a night of drinking, Kaede wakes up realizing that in her drunken daze she had brought an unexpected guest home—a dinosaur! Kaede just goes with the flow and accepts her new living situation. Now she navigates her daily life while eating, watching TV, and shopping with her prehistoric roommate. Together, the duo enjoys each other’s company as they take on whatever the day brings.

Kaede is talking with Yamada over the phone while Dino is watching a program about how lizards grow their tails back. It sounds like a fun evening! Kaede gets up to find a manga volume and steps on Dino’s tail! This isn’t the first time this has happened either. Dino is not pleased! Kaede totally didn’t mean to step on Dino’s tail. Wrap that tail around you, Dino! Dino gets too excited while doing this and accidentally slaps Kaede in the face with it. Karma, am I right? Anyway, what about tying the tail around Dino’s neck? That sounds like a terrible idea. But you know what? Kaede gives it a try. She thinks Dino looks adorable. However, Dino is choking to death! Who could have seen this coming? Okay, that clearly didn’t work out. How about making Dino’s tail stand out more? Kaede draws pictures on Dino’s tail and it definitely looks flashy. Dino isn’t a fan though and washes it off. When Dino gets out of the bathroom, Kaede has a crazy look in her eyes. She mentions that lizards’ tails grow back when they’re cut off…and stares at Dino’s. Dino is horrified! This certainly took a dark twist out of nowhere!
Let’s get back to the fun stuff, shall we? In the first stop motion scene of this episode, Dino is trying on Kaede’s makeup!? I personally think Dino looks beautiful with makeup on. On the other hand, Kaede thinks Dino looks silly! Well, that’s rude.
It’s Christmas Eve! Sadly, Kaede has to work. When she arrives at the convenience store, Nanami tells her that she has to wear a Santa outfit. She’s super embarrassed! That’s adorable. But nothing would be more embarrassing if her friends saw her like this. Ohh, she jinxed herself. A few seconds later, Dino, Shouta, and Yamada all walk into the store. Also, they’re all drunk. Even Dino, I think. Maybe. Anyway, Yamada explains that she ran into Dino and Shouta at the train station. They invited her over for some drinks. Where did they go out drinking? Yamada admits that they got drunk…at Kaede’s apartment. She’s furious! But Dino said it was okay! Kaede stares at Dino but can’t stay mad too long. You can’t stay angry at Dino! Kaede states that she’ll be home soon and everyone leaves. Nanami remarks that they were a fun bunch. Kaede invites her over to drink with them after their shift is over. It’s going to be a crazy time!
In the second stop motion scene, Dino opens up a Christmas present! It’s a shiny rock! Yay! Dino is super excited and starts running around the room. Calm down, Dino! Eventually, Dino gets tired and falls asleep. Dino deserves the rest.
Who’s ready for some live-action!? It’s Christmas! Kaede is sleeping and Dino, who’s in a reindeer costume, is watching a program about comedian Hollywood Zakoshiyoh! Dino starts getting dizzy and passes out. Dang, did the landlady put something in the cake again!? When Dino wakes up, he’s greeted by Zakoshi who’s wearing only a hat and his underwear. That’s…interesting. Is this a dream? Is this real life!? Zakoshi wants to have fun with Dino. Will Dino join him? You know it! What happens next is even weirder. Kaede and Zakoshi start having a social media competition randomly. Do you know all those TikTok challenges? Basically something like that, I think. I’m not sure. I’m not even sure what’s going on right now! At some point, Dino joins in. Let’s just say a lot of weird stuff goes down. Who won the competition? Heck, who knows? And then we get some Gal & Dino subliminal messages!? Okay, this is trippy. Zakoshi starts praising the show and says that it’s really great. We also get numerous closeups of his face. I don’t see how this would brainwash people into buying Gal & Dino merchandise.

Yeah, I just don’t see it. Anyway, Zakoshi leaves before Kaede returns home. At least I thought he did. When Kaede hoes into the bathroom, she sees Zakoshi taking a bath. Awkward. Zakoshi simply gets up and dances away. Alright then! Kaede doesn’t sweat it thought and tells Dino to stop letting people into her apartment. She makes a fair point. Dino sneaks out to dance with Zakoshi on the roof. Why not? Dino wakes up the next morning and finds Zakoshi’s hat. So…it wasn’t a dream. Or was it? I don’t know! The episode ends with Dino and Kaede fighting over the hat, haha.
In Summary:
Remember last week when I said I was fully prepared for this show? That I was ready to expect everything and anything? Well, I was wrong. In my opinion, this was the weirdest episode yet. I find the anime portions of the show to be adorably entertaining. Dino’s faces are great. The live-action parts always leave me baffled. Is this intended!? What was even happening in this episode’s live-action portion!? I can’t say I was expecting to see a half-naked comedian dancing around most of the time. It was like a bad acid trip. Was it a dream? Was it real? What is reality!? Who am I!? Who are you!?!?
