Before delving into the recent viewings, some of the recent works we’ve checked out include Call of the Wild and Birds of Prey, the theatrical release of The Rhythm Section, and some catch-up recently on A Quiet Place and Cold Pursuit. This past month also had Darius stepping in to provide a review for The Photograph. We’re looking forward to when theaters can open again and get behind supporting them so we can continue to enjoy the big screen experience.

It’s been light on movies this week for me as even the background playlist hasn’t been something I’ve been able to focus on – and I blame Spotify releasing an Apple TV app late last year that I only just found about this past week. One film I did take in is one that I haven’t seen since it was in theaters was Avengers: Infinity War. I was keen on watching it again but it was one I wanted to share with my mother, who has a passing familiarity with the characters and have seen a couple of the films but not the majority. With next year featuring shows that I know she’s going to want to watch once the trailers hit, I figured it was a good time to go through these, albeit with a little helpful commentary from me.

It was definitely “fun” to revisit all of this since it’s been awhile and I’ve had most of the other movies playing in the background for awhile since. The interconnectedness continues to work well for me and I like how with each viewing it does feel more and more as intended as being Thanos’ movie. You get so caught up in your favorites or first meetings that you lose track of the big picture and some of the threads tugged on throughout it. It also surprised in that it still doesn’t feel as long as it actually is, which is a plus and even so for my viewing partner who can get frustrated with some longer projects like this.

It has me excited to get to the Endgame film soon and to revisit that as I only saw it in theaters once and not on home video yet. So many little quirks to it and more fun with some of its deeper connections and toying with timelines.

What are you watching this week?
