Dai Sato Sends Funimation ‘Listeners’ Anime Watchers A Special Message

Dai Sato, the co-creator and head writer of Listeners, will be celebrating the start of his all-new series with us by answering some of your questions about the show!

Announced last summer with some information, the Listeners anime series recently updated with the news that Funimation picked up the rights to the series that’s set for the spring season and that they’ll be simulcasting and producing a simuldub for it. The series launched with an April 4th, 2020 debut on MBS and TBS in Japan and Funimation has their simulcast up and running as well. Now, they’ve revealed with a special message from Dai Sato, the co-creator and head writer of Listeners, will answering some of your questions about the show!

The project has Hiroaki Ando directing it based on the scripts overseen by Dai Sato. Shinpei Kamada is adapting the character designs with MAPPA handling the animation production. The project came together under the auspices of JIN and Dai Sato along with Taichi Hashimoto.

The Japanese cast includes Ayumu Murase as Ekowo Rekku, Rie Takahashi as Myū, Rie Kugimiya as Niru, Kana Hanzawa as Rozu, Junichi Suwabe as Denka, Yūto Uemura as Richie, Taku Yashiro as Ride, Reina Ueda as Janice, Banjou Ginga as Robert, Hiro Shimono as Hall, Atsuko Tanaka as Kim, Youko Honna as Wendy, Yukana as Lisa, Shigeru Chiba as Leo Marshall, Sayaka Ohara as Ein Neubauten, Yōko Hikasa as Stür Neubauten, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Zende Neubauten, Rina Satou as Sueru Rekku, and Chō as McGee.

The series features the opening theme song “Into the Blue’s” by ACCAMER.

Plot Concept: The “great adolescent symphony” is set in a world where nothing called “music” exists. A boy meets Myū, a mysterious girl with an empty audio input jack on her body. When she is plugged into an amp, something that will change the world is set in motion …. “Thus begins a journey of sound that will never be forgotten.”
