The fall 2018 anime adaptation of Kumo Kagyu’s property Goblin Slayer revealed back in March 2019 that an OVA was being produced for it. It saw release in theaters in limited form as Goblin Slayer -Goblin’s Crown- back on February 1st, 2020 and now the home video side has been firmed up. Sony Japan has scheduled a July 29th, 2020 debut for it where the DVD is priced at 4,800 yen, the Blu-ray at 5,800 yen, and a limited edition Blu-ray at 8,800 yen. On-disc extras include promos and an audio commentary for all editions while the limited edition gets a nice box done up for it with a new novel story included.
The series is directed by Takaharu Ozaki based on the series composition by Hideyuki Kurata. Takashi Nagayoshi is handling the character designs while White Fox is working the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Yuichiro Umehara as Goblin Slayer, Yui Ogura as Priestess, Nao Tōyama as High Elf Archer, Yuka Iguchi as Cow Girl, Maaya Uchida as Guild Girl, Yūichi Nakamura as Dwarf Shaman, Tomokazu Sugita as Lizard Priest, Yōko Hikasa as Witch, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Spearman.
The light novels from Kumo Kagyu began in 2016 with ten volumes out as of March 2019. A manga adaptation by Kosuke Kurose began in 2016 as well with Yen Press releasing both of them in North America.
Plot Concept: A young priestess has formed her first adventuring party, but almost immediately they find themselves in distress. It’s the Goblin Slayer who comes to their rescue–a man who’s dedicated his life to the extermination of all goblins, by any means necessary. And when rumors of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next…
