‘Short Treks’ Getting DVD/BD Releases

With a lot of really fun stuff happening in both Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, the Short Treks series that have been produced over the past year is now slotted for a home video release. Scheduled for a June 2nd, 2020 debut, it’ll be priced at $25.99 on Blu-ray. Extras include:

• Making Of/Interviews with Rainn Wilson, writer Michael Chabon, and prop master Mario Moreira
• Executive producer Alex Kurtzman making-of featurette
• Audio commentary with Kurtzman alongside Jenny Lumet for the “Runaway” episode

The set collects the first nine of the shorts produced as the Children of Mars piece that ties into Star Trek: Picard is likely being held back for that first season release.

Plot Concept: Stand-alone stories exploring key characters and themes that fit into `Star Trek: Discovery’ and the expanding `Star Trek’ universe.
