Nozomi Reveals ‘AD Police’ TV Anime Series SDBD Release Trailer

The Packer Syndicate is wreaking havoc across Genom City, using violent robots called Boomers to commit crimes. The only ones who can stop them are the Advanced Police, an elite squad of high-tech cops!

Nozomi Entertainment revealed at Anime Expo 2019 that they’ve acquired the rights to the out-of-print release of AD Police from its TV series incarnation. With it set for a planned February 4th, 2020 release date, Nozomi Entertainment has now brought out the first trailer for the project that you can see below. Priced at $29.99, it’ll have the twelve-episode run on a single Blu-ray disc in standard definition in Japanese and English languages with English subtitles. Extras include the clean opening and closing, a sketch art gallery, and a background gallery. Check out the cover below.

Originally airing in the spring 1999 season, the series was directed by Hidehito Ueda with character designs by Naoyuki Konno. AIC handled the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Susumu Chiba as Kenji Sasaki, Takumi Yamazaki as Hans Kleif, Ayako Kawasumi as Kyoko Miyano, Chiharu Tezuka as Karen Jordan, and Kōji Ishii as Jose Collins. The English cast includes Jason Douglas as Hans Kleif, Randy Sparks as Kenji Sasaki, C. Markham Anderson as Jose Collins, Christine M. Auten as Karen Jordan, and Rozie Curtis as Kyoko Miyano.

The series was previously licensed and released by ADV Films while the earlier OVA series is licensed by AnimEigo.

Plot Concept: The Packer Syndicate is wreaking havoc across Genom City, using violent robots called Boomers to commit crimes. The only ones who can stop them are the Advanced Police, an elite squad of high-tech cops! Reckless daredevil Kenji Sasaki and his new partner, Hans Kleif, are hot on the trail of the Syndicate’s devious leader – but if they can’t figure out how to put their differences aside, they’ll end up killing each other before the Boomers even get a chance!
