Originally airing back in 1974 and being released as part of its 45th-anniversary, TC Entertainment has set two box sets for Chiisana Viking Vicke, aka Vicke the Little Viking. The series ran for 78 episodes and is being split into two box sets that are done with the first 52 episodes on the first while the second has the rest. They’re set for release on September 27th, 2019 and October 30th, 2019 and priced at 25,000 yen and 20,000 yen respectively and we now have our first look at the cover for the second set – and still hopefully a full packaging spread will be coming soon for both.

The series had Hiroshi Saito as the chief director with series composition by Yuji Tanno. Shuichi Seki worked on the character designs and it was animated by Zuiyo Eizo for the first 52 episodes while Nippon Animation handled the rest. The work is based on the original Swedish material from Runer Jonsson.

The Japanese cast includes Yōko Kuri as Vicke, Junpei Takiguchi as Sonoore, Kōichi Kitamura as Grampa Ulobe, Kousei Tomita as Harubaru, Setsuo Wakui as Urume, Shun Yashiro as Gorumu, Taeko Nakanishi as Iruba, Takashi Satomi as Tjure, Toku Nishio as Fakuse, and Yoneko Matsukane as Chicchi.

Plot Concept: Long ago, in a little Viking Village called Flake, young Wickie lives a happy life. His father, Halvar, is the chief of the Vikings, and would have liked a son a little more courageous. So, he and his team take Wicke along on their journeys to give him the experience he’ll need to be a real Viking. Yet, somehow Halvar and his men end up trapped or hopelessly stuck somewhere in most cases, and it`s up to Wickie alone to help them out with his flashes of wit.
