If there’s a book a lot of people will tell you that they hated when they first saw it but then fell madly in love with it after they got older, it’s when Bill Sienkiewicz boarded New Mutants in the 80s for the Demon Bear storyline. His artwork was a radical departure in the pre-internet days that upset a lot of fans that talk often years later about how much they realized just how excellent it was and the kind of injection a lot of series need. Now, as Marvel continues to celebrate their 80th anniversary, they’re bringing Claremont and Sienkiewicz back for a one-shot with New Mutants: War Children. It’s set for a September 2019 debut and is being done as a flashback story that even includes Kitty Pryde. Click the cover to see a larger version of the new artwork.

Plot Concept: STRONG AND FREE! Don’t miss this momentous event as legendary creators CHRIS CLAREMONT and BILL SIENKIEWICZ reunite with Magik, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Cypher, Mirage, Karma, and Sunspot to share this never before told story of the New Mutants’ past! When Warlock experiences a nightmare, he begins going haywire, and it’s up to his friends to save him! But as Warlock grows more frenzied, they should be worrying about being able to save themselves…and doubly so when Magik’s inner demon, Darkchylde, threatens to break free! Also, a special guest appearance by none other than Kitty Pryde!
