First ‘Swamp Thing’ Posters Debut

2 min read

The Swamp Thing series on the DC Universe streaming service is scheduled for a May 31st, 2019 debut after Doom Patrol wraps up and now we’ve got our first taste of it. With a brief teaser out a week or so ago that gave us our first look at Swampy, two new promotional pieces have come up through social media serving as the first posters for it. Though they missed out on tying into Earth Day nicely, there are nods to it and the pro-environmental aspects of the character woven into the posters.

The project has Mark Verheiden writing it with Gary Dauberman and both will serve as executive producers as well.

The cast includes Crystal Reed as Abigal Arcane, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp thing, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue, Leonardo Nam as Harland Edwards, Ian Ziergin as Blue Devil, and Adrienne Barbeau.

The production for this comes from the Atomic Monster folks, which is James Wan’s company, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Plot Concept: Swamp Thing centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all!
