We got a lot of announcements for the Stargirl series for the DC Universe service over the last few months and it’s been exciting to see it all come together. With a 2020 debut ahead of it and the first key image released recently, a little more casting news has arrived. The latest addition to the cast is Hina Khan, who was recently seen in Hit the Floor and has a role in the upcoming Creepshow anthology series. No information about her role was revealed, which is par for the course at this point.

The cast includes Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore, Luke Wilson, Yvette Monreal, Christopher James Baker, Ian Ziering, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Brian Stapf, Joy Osmanski, Neil Hopkins, Megan DeLacy, Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Jake Austin Walker, Cameron Gellman, Hunter Sansone, Neil Jackson, Hina Khan, and Nelson Lee.

The title character was the first one that Geoff Johns created upon joining DC Comics back in 1999 and he’ll be writing for the series and serving as an executive producer along with Greg Berlanti and working with Sarah Schechter. The series is set for a 2019 debut with a thirteen episode run planned. This isn’t using the Stargirl that we saw in the Legends of Tomorrow series during its trip to the 1940s, however, as it’s focusing on the teenaged Courtney Whitmore that Johns created.

Plot Concept: Courtney Whitmore’s smooth-going high school experience is derailed when her mother marries and moves the household from Los Angeles to bucolic Blue Valley in distant Nebraska. Struggling to adapt, Courtney discovers her stepfather has a secret past as a superhero sidekick. She also discovers an artifact of immense power, a long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, and Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.
