The spring 2018 anime adaptation of the manga Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii, aka Love is Hard for an Otaku, revealed in September that the seventh volume of the manga will have a bundled Blu-ray anime episode that deals with the high school days for the leads. That volume is set for a March 29th, 2019 debut and a couple of minutes of footage was shown during an event video from Ichijinsha this weekend. The video for it runs at 3:15-4:10 and 6:00-6:15 below.

The series is directed by Yoshimasa Hiraike based on the series composition that he put together. Takahiro Yasuda is handling the character design with A-1 Pictures handling the animation.

The cast from the web promos for the manga will be reprising their roles for the show with Arisa Date as Narumi Momose, Kento Itou as Hirotaka Nifuji, Miyuki Sawashiro as Hanako Koyanagi, Tomokazu Sugita as Tarou Kabakura, and Yuki Kaji as Naoya Nifuji.

The manga comes from Fujita that began in 2014. The opening theme song is “Fiction” as performed by sumika.
