King Records has finally put something into motion that I’ve been looking forward to seeing for some time with a complete Blu-ray collection for the His & Her Circumstances series. The set is scheduled for a March 27th, 2019 and will be priced at 14,000 yen. With a new illustration piece commissioned that you can see below for the packaging, the set will be done with five discs inside the box with bonus materials to be revealed. It’ll include a booklet as well.
Directed by Hideaki Anno and Hiroki Sato, Anno worked on the screenplay and wrote most of the episodes. Tadashi Hiramatsu handled the character designs and served as the chief animation director with Gainax and JC Staff involved in the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Atsuko Enomoto as Yukino Miyazawa, Chihiro Suzuki as Souichirou Arima, Atsushi Kisaichi as Hideaki Asaba, Junko Noda as Maho Izawa, Maria Yamamoto as Kano Miyazawa, Mayumi Shintani as Tsubasa Shibahime, Takeshi Kusao as Hiroyuki Miyazawa, Yuka Koyama as Miyako Miyazawa, and Yuki Watanabe as Tsukino Miyazawa.
The English dub was directed by Jeff Thompson with a cast that includes Christopher Nicholas as Soichiro Arima, Veronica Taylor as Yukino Miyazawa, Carol Jacobanis as Maho Isawa, Jessica Calvello as Tsukino Miyazawa, Liam O’Brien as Hideaki Asaba, Lisa Ortiz as Tsubasa Shibahime, Megan Hollingshead as Kano Miyazawa, Pete Zarustica as Hiroyuki Miyazawa, and Rachael Lillis as Miyako Miyazawa.
The series is based on the manga by Masami Tsuda which ran for twenty-one volumes. The series was released in English by TOKYOPOP while Nozomi Entertainment released the series on DVD in North America.
Plot concept: Like a drug, Yukino Miyazawa was addicted to admiration and praise from those around her. She worked hard to become the perfect student, the perfect girl. But that was before… him. Souichirou Arima. The instant she met him, she hated him. Without even trying, he snatched the very glory from her hands by easily acing the high school entrance exam that should have made her the class representative. To take back what is rightfully hers, Yukino is putting all her efforts into plotting her revenge – but was love part of the plan?
