Casting for Star Wars: The Mandalorian has been a little awkward in some ways as there have been partial confirmations and nods but we haven’t had the formal piece yet. Lucasfilm has now down just that by firming up what we previously knew in that it would include Pedro Pascal along with Gina Carano and Nick Nolte. We also got an expanded list of who is involved with Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods) and Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man).

“We’re having a great time working with this incredibly talented group and excited for everyone to see what we’re up to,” executive producer Jon Favreau said.

Jon Favreau is writing it and working as an executive producer on the series. Dave Filoni of the animated site will be directing the first episode while other directors include Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa. Greg Fraser is of Star Wars: Rogue One is on board as the cinematographer.

Plot Concept: After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
