‘Back Street Girls’ Anime Gets Netflix Premiere

The summer 2018 anime series Back Street Girls, which has a live-action film adaptation in the works, has now gotten its worldwide distribution set. The anime series is scheduled for a December 12th, 2018 debut on Netflix with details of the production to be revealed soon. The series had Chiaki Kon directing based on the series composition by Susumu Yamakawa. JC Staff was on board to produce the animation.

The Japanese cast includes Daisuke Ono as Kentarō Yamamoto, Yuka Nukui as Airi Yamamoto, Satoshi Hino as Ryū Tachibana, Kaori Maeda as Mari Tachibana, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kazuhiko Sugihara, Hikaru Akao as Chika Sugihara, Keiji Fujiwara as Inugane Boss/Inugane Producer, Junichi Suwabe as Mandarin Kinoshita, Yasuhiro Mamiya as Kōji Nagata, and Natsuki Hanae as Kimura.

Plot Concept: A group of 3 yakuza failed their boss for the last time. After messing up an important job, the boss gives them 2 choices: Honorably committing suicide, or go to Thailand to get a sex reassignment surgery in order to become “female” idols. After a gruesome year-long training to become idols, they successfully debut, with overwhelming popularity, much to their dismay. This is where their tragedy truly begins.
