While there are several Game of Thrones projects going through various stages of the pilot pipeline to figure out what will work, one that’s moving forward well is an untitled one that comes from writer Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin. The two collaborated on the concept for it with Goldman writing the pilot where she’ll serve as the showrunner as well. With this one set some 8,000 years prior to the show most fans know, it’s an ensemble piece and the key leading role has now been filled with Naomi Watts signing on board. There are no details regarding the role as a lot is being kept under wraps until it’s given a to-series order.
Plot Concept: The project takes place thousands of years before the events of Game Of Thrones. It chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.
