AsianCrush Adds ‘Ongaku Shojo’ For Summer 2018 Anime Lineup

Everyone wants a piece of the simulcast pie and the folks at AsianCrush, having done some work with Pop Team Epic earlier this year, is bringing Ongaku Shojo to their streaming service as Music Girls. The series fromStudio DEEN is set for a July 6th, 2018 debut with AsianCrush bringing it out through their service initially and then after the final episode will bring it out on Amazon through Prime Video.

The show is directed by Yukio Nishimoto based on the series composition by Deko Akao. Momoka Komatsu is adapting the character designs from what Matsuri Santa originally created. Studio DEEN is handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Seria Fukagawa as Hanako Yamadaki, Karin Takahashi as Sasame Mitsukuri, Miho Okazaki as Mirai Nishio, Yuko Ōno as Yukino Hinata, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Shoop Gushiken, Nako Eguchi as Roro Morooka, Lynn as Kotoko Kintoki, Yui Ogura as Haori Mukae, Sumire Uesaka as Kiri Mukae, Manami Numakura as Haru Chitose, Asami Seto as Eri Kumagai, and Mai Fuchigami as Sarasa Ryūō.

Plot Concept: The series follows Hanako Yamadaki when she encounters the obscure, low-selling 11-member “C-list” idol unit Ongaku Shōjo. Their producer Ikehashi thinks the unit needs a new member. Together, Ongaku Shōjo and Hanako strive for the top of the music world.
