A little bit of cuteness and a whole lot of sexiness.

Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the July 2018 installment, I Want To Be Your Wife! is a twenty-page story from creator Sukoyaka Gyuunyuu, who has one other work on the service. It’s my first experience with their work and it’s something that I can see checking out more of in the future. Gyuunyuu’s style has a lot of nice elements to it with the character designs and layouts, but there’s also a kind of softness to the artwork that doesn’t work so well for me when it comes to the inking. It feels like it needs a little more weight to really connect and feel right. That said, they’ve got the designs down well and there’s a lot to like with how the main female character comes across here.

The premise here is straightforward as we’re introduced to Kou a couple of days after he moves out of his parents house and into his own place. He’s done things up well already with it nice and tidy, which utterly frustrates his childhood friend Mai who has come to help him settle in and clean up. This is actually a good thing as she’s kind of a klutz and not good at a lot of things. The thing is though that she’s always trying to do good because she wants to be his wife. That finally comes out of her mouth, much to his surprise, and that gets him to reveal that he’s always liked her and really been in love with her. Undisclosed mutual love is always cute but Mai takes it in a hilarious direction by starting to strip hard and tell him that she’s ready for him. Which makes sense since she’s been waiting a long time.

This, naturally, leads into a full on consummation of said love as she’s removing clothes quickly and he’s grabbing on pretty hard, though still surprised every time she really goes at him. There’s a basic kind of innocence about it here but it avoids it seeming like it’s their real first time overall, though you know that’s likely the case. Gyuunyuu’s artwork makes for some really nicely erotic sequences as Mai looks great and is all in on expressing what she’s feeling and it only does a couple of panels with the internal stuff, instead focusing on dialogue and expressiveness to make it clear how she’s feeling as he changes what he’s doing. It’s a good looking coupling overall with something that has a good bit of heat to it even though it doesn’t go into anything really seriously hardcore.

In Summary
As a first experience with this artist, I came away pretty pleased with it. It’s simple but effective and it has a good positive vibe about it that’s very appealing. It doesn’t go hardcore but hits some good notes with the basic setup of what these two characters are like. It doesn’t have the impact of something where we’ve known the characters and are invested in them but the simple setup in the bookends is enough to drive the narrative and enjoy the activities.
