First ‘New Challengers’ Installment Solicited

2 min read

Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s when I was exploring the depths of the decades of material that DC Comics had, I got to thrill to a new at the time series for Challengers of the Unknown which lead me to a lot of the older stuff as well. The property is one that would make for an ideal film series or animated work but it’s been hard finding an audience for it on the comics side so it’s largely laid fallow. That’s changing on May 16th, 2018 as a new six-issue miniseries is coming out from the pages of the Dark Knights: Metal event.

Priced at $2.99 for each issue, it’s written by Scott Snyder and Aaron Gillespie with artwork from Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson. Check out the fill extended piece they’ve released below to get a taste of the craziness that will come from it.

Plot Concept: From the pages of DARK NIGHTS: METAL! Challengers Mountain has returned to the DC Universe and chosen a new team of explorers! Five misfit strangers are given a second chance at life, but only if they obey the orders of the mysterious Professor and execute deadly missions in the most unexplored corners of the multiverse! And if the new Challengers of the Unknown fail…it will be more than just their own lives that hang in the balance!
