With the third season coming up it makes sense that SMIRAL will come back and bring out a Blu-ray box set of the second season of the Encouragement of Climb property. It’s now scheduled for a March 30th, 2018 release priced at 25,000 yen for the seven-volume set.
Yusuke Yamamoto worked as the director and on the series composition for the first two seasons with Yusuke Matsuo who served as the character designer and chief animation director. 8bit handled the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Kana Asumi as Hinata Kuraue, Yuka Iguchi as Aoi Yukimura, Nao Tōyama as Honoka Kurosaki, Yōko Hikasa as Kaede Saitō, and Yui Ogura as Kokona Aoba.
The original manga from Siro began back in 2011 in Comic Earth Star and has thirteen volumes released so far. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons but no home video pickups were ever made.
Plot concept: Aoi and Hinata are childhood friends. Aoi prefers staying indoors and is afraid of heights, whereas Hinata is outgoing and loves mountaineering. They both decide to climb a mountain in order to see a sunrise they saw together when they were younger.
