Jared Leto Boards ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

2 min read

Jared LetoWarner continues to announce teasing bits of information in regards to the October 6th, 2017 release for the Blade Runner sequel while not really giving us anything to truly latch onto. While figuring that casting was mostly done up until this point, Alcon Entertainment has added one more actor of note to the project with Jared Leto now on board in a supposedly key role. Naturally, there are no details for it and we still don’t have a basic story concept yet either. Leto, of course, is known for his recent turn as the Joker in Suicide Squad and previously in his award winning role in Dallas Buyers Club.

Warner Bros. previously confirmed that they will be handling the domestic distribution while Sony will handle the international side. The cast includes Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Ana de Armas.

The script comes from Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, along with Michael Green with Ridley Scott producing while Denis Villenueve is directing and the legendary Roger Deakins as the cinematographer.

Original Film Concept: In a signature role as 21st-century detective Rick Deckard, Harrison Ford brings his masculine-yet-vulnerable presence to this stylish noir thriller. In a future of high-tech possibility soured by urban and social decay, Deckard hunts for fugitive, murderous replicants – and is drawn to a mystery woman whose secrets may undermine his soul.
