Kaze Deutschland Acquires ‘Shimoneta – A Boring World Where the Concept of ‘Dirty Jokes’ Doesn’t Exist’ Anime

2 min read

Shimoneta Hulu HeaderThe summer 2015 anime series Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist has expanded its reach as Germany distributor Kaze Deutschland has revealed they’ve acquired the rights to it. With no timeline set for it yet, they did indicate that it will be getting both a DVD and Blu-ray release when it does arrive. We’re hoping for a German dub for this one as the clips and trailers should be a whole lot of fun.

The series was directed by Youhei Suzuki based on the scripts by Masahiro Yokotoani and with character designs by Masahiro Fuji. The series was animated by JC Staff. The cast includes Shizuka Ishigami as Ayame Kajō, Yūsuke Kobayashi as Tanukichi Okuma, Miyu Matsuki as Anna Ninomiya, Saori Goto as Hyōka Fuwa, Satomi Arai as Otome Saotome, Kenta Miyake as Raiki Gōriki, Yui Horie as Kosuri Onigashira, Sumire Uesaka as Oboro Tsukimigusa and Yui Ogura as Binkan-chan.

The light novel series comes from Hirotaka Akagi under the Gagaga Bunko imprint with illustrations by Eight Shimotsuki. It began back in 2012 and has multiple volumes published so far, as well as a manga adaptation.

Plot concept: 16 years after the “Law for Public Order and Morals in Healthy Child-Raising” banned coarse language in the country, Tanukichi Okuma enrolls in the country’s leading elite public morals school and is soon invited into the Anti-Societal Organization (SOX) by its founder, Ayame Kajou. As a member blackmailed into joining by Ayame, Tanukichi ends up taking part in obscene acts of terrorism against the talented student council president Anna (for whom Tanukichi has a crush on).
