Sansha Sanyou Header 4-8The anime adaptation of the Sansha Sanyou manga is almost here and the folks at TOHO has a new character spot piece that goes for a jazzy approach to introducing things. With previous spots working the manga angle in full color, this one goes black and white and has a bit of menace about it in the tone through which it’s portrayed. The debut was recently scheduled with it landing on April 10th, 2016 on Tokyo MX and others before moving to some regional services over the next few days. Funimation has picked up the simulcast rights for the series.

The main cast includes:

  • Mai Kanazawa as Futaba Odagiri
  • Ayaka Imamura as Teru Hayama
  • Yū Wakui as Yoko Nishikawa
  • Machico as Serina Nishiyama
  • Aina Suzuki as Asako Kondō
  • Rika Momokawa as Shino Sonobe

Sansha Sanyo is directed by Yasuhiro Kimura based on the series composition by Hideaki Koyasu and character designs by Jun Yamazaki. It’s being animated by Dogakobo.

The series is based on the work by creator Cherry Arai, who had some good luck last year in having their series Mikakunin de Shinkoukei receiving an anime adaptation. Sansha Sanyou has been serialized in the magazine since 2003.

Plot concept: The series focuses on three hilarious characters; Futaba Odagiri is the new transfer student with a super energetic personality; Teru Hayama is the class president with a surprisingly mean personality contrary to her innocent looks; and Youko Nishikawa is from a formerly rich, now extremely poor family who still holds on to her princess attitude. These three unlikely students with clashing personalities become good friends and survive the day-to-day teenage life in a very funny story.
