Toei Animation is continuing to plumb the depths of their catalog for new Blu-ray releases and the latest is the upscale of Captain Future. The series is getting two Blu-ray box set releases that are priced at 30,240 yen each and will land on September 14th, 2016 and November 9th, 2016. The first box set will bring out 24 episodes across four discs with a bonus fifth disc that will have the TV special that runs for an hour. A booklet will also be included. The second disc will have the rest of the episodes and will also include a booklet.
The series originally aired beginning in the fall of 1978 and ran for 52 episodes and was directed by Tomoharu Katsumata.
Plot concept: Curtis Newton, aka Captain Future, is an orphan. His parents died in their artificial satellite while he was an infant. His father was a scientist, who has abandoned earth for the satellite to dedicate his life for science along with his aging friend the genius Dr Simon Wright. Wright senses his death, and decides to implant his brain in a mechanical container. They both manufactured a superior robot and an android. Captain future dedicated his life to fight evil along with his three men, the brain, android, and robot.
