‘Boruto’ Manga Scheduled

2 min read

Boruto Manga Visual 3-15After promising a spring launch back in December, the Japanese edition of Weekly Shonen Jump has revealed that the new Boruto manga series will debut on May 9th. The serialization is going to be a monthly one when it gets going.

Now the question becomes, does Viz Media bring it out in their digital version of the magazine to try and boost sales there or do they try a Platinum End approach and put it out as an individual chapter and highlight its release specifically each month?

The new series will see Masashi Kishimoto serving as a supervisor for the manga while the scripts will be written by Ukyo Kodachi. Kodachi worked on the script for the Boruto movie and has done some manga work with the stories for Macross Frontier and Naruto Hiden Series among others. Mikio Ikemoto will be illustrating the series and it should have a whole lot of continuity in terms of visuals as he served as an assistant on the main Naruto series.

Plot concept: The new series focuses on Naruto’s son Boruto and his adventures, essentially moving us forward while keeping strong connections to the past.
