Aniplex USA Adds ‘Doukyusei’ US Theatrical Anime Release Dates

2 min read

DoukyuuseiThe recent Japanese feature film Doukyusei, aka Classmates, got a decent little bit of promotion around its theatrical release in Japan from Aniplex USA with an English subtitled trailer. Now Aniplex USA is moving to the next stage with it having set up distribution for a select run in theaters with Azoland Pictures beginning on May 6th, 2016. The theatrical locations page has now gone live here with where it’s playing and for how long and what times. If you’re able to see anime in the theater, we always recommend it, even if the film seems like it may not be your taste, as this is how great new discoveries are made.

The original work comes from Asumiko Nakamura, a one volume/six chapter release that was serialized in Opera back in 2006 to 2007. It has a pretty solid team behind it with Shouko Nakamura directing and Akemi Hayashi as the character designer. Kenji Nojima and Hiroshi Kamiya play the lead roles along with Hideo Ishikawa as Manabu Hara.

Plot concept: A boy met a boy. They were in the flush of youth. Their love felt like a dream, like sparkling soda pop.
