Ooya-san wa Shishunki Episode 3Maeda may think he wins, but he really doesn’t.

What They Say:
Ooya-san wa Shishunki! follows the antics of Chie Satonaka, a middle schooler who is a landlord. Though she appears a little girl, at times, she behaves more like a grandmother, doing all the cleaning, cooking and housework around the apartment. Despite her responsibilities, she still enjoys a normal middle school life with her friends.

As the series moves into a bit of ease with its cast and how they operate, something that I’m glad to see so early on, Chie is struggling with the feeling that someone is stalking and watching her. So she opts for some security initially by saying Maeda should stay with her, which freaks out Reiko, and instead settles to Chie staying at Maeda’s instead. So, no difference, though Maeda thinks he’s in heaven because of this. There’s some really cute quick bits with how they spend the night together because nothing goes like he thinks it will, but then again nothing should go like he hopes it will. In the end, we get the simple misunderstandings that make up such events and it’s certainly cute.

In Summary:
Chie continues to be a charmer here and while I totally get where Maeda is, well, I’m firmly in Reiko’s camp when it comes to the reactions since these are not things that Maeda should be doing or thinking about with a middle school student. There are cute bits to be had and there’s definitely charm in how oblivious Chie is to so many things, which in the end makes it even more amusing that she navigates it all so well and so easily.
