A new anime adaptation of a manga series has been revealed with the latest installment of Young Animal magazine divulging that 3-gatsu no Lionb, aka March Comes in Like a Lion, is being prepped for an NHK broadcast. No time period was given for the series but it was revealed that Shaft would be handling the animation for the project and that Akiyuki Shinobu is on board to direct it.
The eleventh volume of the manga series landed in October where its opening week numbers were at 370,000 units sold. The series from Chika Umino began back in 2007 and has won several awards over the years.
Plot concept: The protagonist is Rei, a 17-year-old shogi player. He lives by himself, does not have a family, does not go to school, and has scarcely any friends. Among his acquaintances is a family, which consists of a young woman, Akari, and two young girls, Momo and Hinata, and who also keep a numerous number of cats.
