‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Hits $600m Domestic Box Office Mark

Star Wars The Force Awakens HeaderThe numbers continue to roll in and a new day of box office details hit for how Star Wars: The Force Awakens performed on Tuesday. The film did another $29.5 million domestically for the day, down just 6% from Monday, and that has helped it to push the $600 mark.

The film is currently at the #2 slot for 2015 as Jurassic World is at $652 million domestically. It’s now hit the fifth all time as well with The Avengers its next target at $623 million before it can tackle Jurassic World and then Titanic at $658 million. The top of the chart is Avatar with its $760 million domestic take.

The film has done well overseas as well, hitting $627 million so far and bringing its worldwide to $1.228 billion. In Japan, it’s at $37 million while the UK is at $116 million.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the first film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow. It’s set to debut on December 18th, 2015.

Plot concept: Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.
