Crunchyroll Gets Exclusives ‘Kiznaiver’ Anime Streaming Rights

2 min read

Kiznaiver Visual HeaderThe streaming/simulcast game has been competitive for quite awhile and there are interesting moves to watch, especially since it can impact home video licenses. Crunchyroll has announced that they’ll be exclusively streaming the series Kiznaiver when it airs in Japan. At this time, however, Kiznaiver does not have a premiere date or even a season revealed yet for next year. This isn’t the first time that Crunchyroll has gotten in early with a simulcast pickup as earlier this year they announced The Perfect Insider a few months prior to its broadcast.

All details about the simulcast will come when actual broadcast details are finalized.

Planned for a 2016 debut, the upcoming Studio Trigger series recently revealed that Yuki Kaji will be playing Katsuhira Agata while Hibiku Yamamura will be playing Noriko Sonozaki.

The series is set to be directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi based on scripts and series composition from Mari Okada. The original character designs come from Shirow Miwa with Mai Yoneyama handling the adaptations.

Plot concept: The anime’s setting is a fictional Japanese city named Sugomori City. One day, Noriko Sonosaki tells her classmate Katsuhira Agata, “You have been selected to be a Kiznaiver.” The Kizuna System, which allows Katsuhira to share his wounds, connects him to the classmates whose lives and personalities completely differ from his. The Kizuna System is an incomplete system for the implementation of world peace that connects people through wounds. All those who are connected to this system are called Kiznaivers. When one Kiznaiver is wounded, the system divides and transmits the wound among the other Kiznaivers. Sugomori City is built on reclaimed land. But as the years go by, the city’s population is decreasing. The story is set in this town where Katsuhira and the others live.
