Megazone 23

After bringing out a pretty good two-minute promo earlier this summer, MAiDiGiTV has now posted a new four-minute promotional video for the fall release of Megazone 23 on Blu-ray in Japan as part of the 30th anniversary of the project. The promo shows off a lot of the animation and how it’s coming across with the new remaster and high definition aspect and it shows off some of the pieces from the set as well.

Labeled as the Megazone 23 30th Anniversary Edition Box Set, the new release is scheduled for November 27th, 2015 and will be working off of a 4K telecine from the negatives, which means it should look fantastic while showing off every flaw and detail in the animation itself from the “glory days” of traditional animation in Japan.

The release is bringing out the complete series across four Blu-ray discs and will include the promotional video, pilot film and the original theatrical notices for it. A 64 page booklet is planned as well.

The series last saw release in North America from ADV Films back in summer 2004 when it was released on DVD.

Plot concept: The ultimate virtual reality trip! The world literally unravels for a group of Tokyo teens as they attempt to discover the truth surrounding the death of one of their friends. Everything turns inside out once Shogo gets his hands on a top secret power bike and is hunted by the authorities. When Shogo turns to his friends for help, they discover a complex web of dark, political intrigue and shocking government cover-ups.
