Checking Out The ‘Iron Man Mark XL’ Shotgun Figure

3 min read

Iron Man Mark XLThe folks at Comicave have been putting out some sweet figures lately in general but most especially with their Iron Man line. We got our hands on the Super Alloy 1/12 Scale Shotgun Mark XL figure that came out recently from them and it’s an impressive little beast.

Measuring in at just under six inches, this bad boy is 75% die cast metal. and having grown up when most toys were made of metal as opposed to plastic, this just gives it a vastly different feeling from most of what’s out there. it has weight to it.

Click on any of the images below to see much larger and more detailed shots.

The release comes with a great oversized box that has some foil to it that gives it additional pop as you can see below. When you open it up you get to see everything behind the plastic as well as some really good, simple artwork tied to the logos. We took the tray out ahead of time because plastic reflecting on plastic leaves us with just a whole lot of glare.

The four sets of hands in addition to the main set on the figure provide for a lot of customization, especially when two of them can utilize the repulsor blasts. The larger one can be attached to his back.

I apologize for the video issues below. I know better than to do videos in that form, but my camera was having serious issues beyond this with multiple resets. This figure is really slick. I love the base for it with the Marvel logo on it above the name, highlighting the Shotgun side of it. The figure has a lot of reconfigurability about it and can be posed in so many different ways that it looks great on the shelf next to the movies but I really felt like I needed to get him out into the yard for all sorts of adventures and posing with it. I haven’t dealt with figures for awhile in general mostly because I’ve been more interested in the anime side where there often isn’t a lot of posing aspects and just a few hand changes or minor costume changes.

This figure from Comicave really lets you get at it, and if you pick up some of the other figures they have I suspect you could put together some really slick modeling poses for it. This is definitely a big thumbs up from us, even with my big hands that make working with tiny parts rather difficult at times.
