‘Getter Robo Armageddon’ Anime Getting License Rescue & Blu-ray Release

Getter Robo Armageddon CoverThe thirteen episode OVA series that ran from 1998 to 1999 is now getting a license rescue in North America as Discotek Media has picked up the rights for it. Previously released back in 2001 from ADV Films, the release will be coming out on both DVD and Blu-ray with exact details to be determined. Though not mentioned in the simple notification from Discotek Media, we do expect that similar to other rescues that it will retain the English language dub that was created for it.

Based on the Ken Ishikawa and Go Nagai material, the series was directed by Yasuhiro Imagawa based on the screenplay to Jun Kawagoe. Kenji Hayam served as the character designer for it and one of the several animation directors.

Plot concept: Dr. Saotome returns from the dead after being seemingly murdered by Getter pilot Nagare Ryoma and threatens the world with his ultimate creation: the Shin Dragon. Ryoma reluctantly teams up with his former co-pilots Jin Hayato and Tomoe Mushashi to combat Dr. Saotome. The pilots must also deal with the mysterious Invaders, aliens that have the ability to possess humans and warp their flesh to form hideous creatures.
