Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers | Episode 6

Buckeye: Pretty much, this episode continues the discussion from the last episode, except that Adlet’s escape with Flamie happens in the middle of it. and then the discussion picks up between only Adlet and Flamie. Flamie thinks Adlet is the fake as well, but she’s “only 99%” sure about it. Just some more buildup here, but the talk has some pretty interesting stuff, especially with the possibility of an 8th brave lurking.

Yamada2: I doubt the existence of an eighth Brave. My guess is that whoever the seventh brave is, he/she is working for the demon and is doing all this alone.

So, the only way someone could have entered the temple is after Adlet blew open the door. Now, that “someone” could only use the small time period between Adlet opening the door and then going back in after taking care of the attacking armours. While Adlet was occupied by the armours, someone entered the temple, activated the fog and then escaped. It is entirely possible that the shape-shifting fiend was just there to keep Adlet busy until the seventh leaves the temple, or to cover for the seventh in case Adlet sees him/her getting out. Because the fiend left just as the fog was activated which is also probably the time when the seventh left the temple.

Now, there are two ways to enter the temple after the door has been blown open: the front door, or by digging underground. There could be some way to see if the seal has been broken which would help the seventh to break in from the ground, activate the barrier, and then go back underground. Maura most likely, can do that since she is the saint of mountains, if I’m not mistaken, and has control on earth to an extent. In the OP we see her breaking the ground with her power so she can dig up from the temple floor and then be able to put things back to normal.

My suspicion is on Maura and Hans. One of them could be the seventh. Hans is an assassin who specializes in sneaking around without being seen so he can get in the temple, activate the fog and get out without being seen in a short time. And because he would do things only if money is involved so if someone paid him to become a traitor in the group of six Braves, he’ll probably do it. Maura because she can most likely break through from down below and then put things back to the way they were based on what her ability is and what we see in the OP. And since she is the oldest of them all, she knows how to do a lot of stuff with her powers.

Now Adlet has to figure out how the seventh entered the temple, activated the barrier and then escaped without being seen. And it should be believable and not some load of crap. This will be interesting. Adlet will also have to fight with the others. This should be cool.

Also, whatever they’re doing is super risky. What if they kill Adlet and then a petal disappears from their crest? That’ll be the last thing they want.

GingaDaiuchuu: I wonder if there really will be two fakes and, if so, whether or not we’ll meet the actual sixth in the series. It seems a bit too convenient for the sixth to have not shown up and, as this episode pointed out, the real Braves would know if one of their ranks was at least dead. Could still be otherwise incapacitated, though. And since we’re probably counting on Maura’s word more than anything, if she’s a fake it might make the most sense. Hans as well, just to a lesser extent.

General Hentai: Of course, one way this would’ve been possible, is if my scenario of Adlet being a brainwashed spy (think Battlestar Galactica, with the undercover Cylons who don’t know they’re Cylons until the proper trigger is used, and then can be triggered to forget what they’ve done), which would explain everything, except, seemingly, how Maura and Chamot entered from a different part of the temple.

But we get to see some of Adlet’s past, which was instructional, and the show gets a new Flamie-centric ED. How fast they went to being ready to kill Flamie, to accepting that she’s a Brave. The knowledge of the petal vanishing when a brave dies offers interesting possibilities down the line.

The mystery deepens. This show is getting better with each passing week.

GingaDaiuchuu: Okay, at least we’re not spending the entire series on that one scene. Could very well be on this subject, though. I don’t know how long that can continue to be remotely interesting, but I can’t say it’s not something a little different from the kind of story this initially seemed to be.

bctaris: Yet making this all about this “subject” manages to be the most interesting fantasy or action-themed show certainly of this season, and very well the year. And not simply because it’s different–it’s smart, too. Dense dialog and circuitous logical arguments are nothing new to the medium (or genre) but it’s all usually, and simply, pretentious: a lot of talking around the actual facts, throwing in useless but smart-sounding asides, or overplaying the emotion, to make a thin plot line or characterization seem complex. But this, for a rare change, seems to know what it’s doing, avoiding especially melodramatic cues (Nachetanya’s pleading being the only exception; and for her, it’s to the purpose of adding to her suspicion) and humorous, out-of-character asides. Frankly I didn’t think anime was willing or capable to do a story quite like this, basically a character play, avoiding all the usual trappings of sock-puppet characters and pandering fanservice–at least not with this much of a budget. I’m more than pleased and pretty intrigued.

As I thought, or hoped, we see alliances break apart, and form in different orders. And like a truly good suspense story, we don’t know who is conning who.
