Madman Acquires ‘Hamatora’ Anime License

2 min read

HamatoraMadman Entertainment often partners with Sentai Filmworks for acquisitions and releases, and one that looks like they’ll be working off of is Hamatora. Sentai Filmworks has the North American release coming up this fall and now Madman Entertainment has picked up the Australian rights for the show. With the US release getting a bilingual and dual format release, we can expect that the Australian release will at least have the English language dub included, and potentially a Blu-ray release as well.

Hamatora is based on the original work by Cafe Nowhere with Seiji Kishi directing based on scripts by Yukinori Kitajima and Jun Kumagi with character designs by Yu Wazu and Keiko Kuraosawa. Kurosawa will also be handling the animation direction. The cast includes Hiroshi Kamiya as Art, Ryota Ohsaka as Nice, Wataru Hatano as Murasaki, Emiri Katō as Hajime, Eri Kitamura as Honey, Jun Fukuyama as Birthday, Katsuki Murase as Three, Kiyono Yasuno as Koneko, Takuya Eguchi as Mao, Yūichi Nakamura as Ratio, Yousuke Akimoto as Gasuke and Atsushi Ono as Master.

Plot concept: An original multi-media project with a manga and anime, the Hamatora anime revolves around a group of humans who possess a special hereditary power known as “Minimum,” and are known as “Minimum Holders.” Minimum Holders Nice and Murasaki run a detective agency called “Hamatora,” and when they are hired to investigate a certain case, they cross paths with an old acquaintance, Art, who is chasing the same case as a police officer. As they investigate deeper into each of the cases, they discover that both cases are related, and that all the victims are Minimum Holders, like themselves.
