Bubblegum Crirsis 2040 CoverSometimes when it comes to the re-releases, things slip by and you don’t always get to do the promotion that you want to. FUNimation has the second Anime Classics edition of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 coming out on May 19th, 2015 and they’re now doing some video promotion for it with a new trailer. The series is getting its twenty-six episode run brought out in one compact collection for a retail price of $39,98, which you can certainly find cheaper out there on the internets, with the bilingual run on DVD. It’s light on the extras as it has just the Textless Songs with it, but it has a lot of content and a pretty solid updated story for the time.

Plot concept: Tokyo has become the epicenter of advanced technology, but at a dangerous price: its workforce is riddled with humanoid robots that tend to go on destructive killing sprees. That’s when four young women gear up in cybernetic suits to crush the defective droids. They are the Knight Sabers: heavy metal heroines battling an evil corporation’s bionic pawns while its grip on the city threatens to strangle humanity. In order to shut down the android uprising, these ladies flirt with a critical meltdown in an adrenaline-fueled death match between woman and machine!
