Coming as no surprise really, even with the mediocre ratings, but ABC has announced ahead of next weeks upfronts that Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be getting a third season on the network. The show is one that doesn’t come across as a ratings powerhouse, but it’s part of the larger Disney synergy that’s at work and I think it’s going to start changing a lot in the third season if events with the Inhumans continue to pick up. It also does well when it comes to the DVR ratings being included as it has significant gains there, like a lot of shows.
Interestingly, the potential spinoff project that was being developed lightly for the characters of Bobbi and Hunter has been shelved, so the third season will see them remain with the main series and grow their roles there more, which is good.
Plot concept: Season Concept: Agents of SHIELD: Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources–but that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere.
