What They Say
The Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee has discovered something that could help everyone in their quest to save the worlds: Ansem’s computer. Sora and company join them at Hollow Bastion to see what they can find out, but they’re in for a surprise when the computer pulls them inside of it!

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
After a number of asides, our heroes get called to Hallow Bastion in order to look into Ansem’s computer. Unfortunately, though it holds a lot of potential information, it’s unfortunately been leaking out a ton of Heartless, hence the need for Sora and company. Eventually they make it to the computer in question, but when they start pounding on it, they’re pulled into the machine by command of the Master Control Program, or MCP for short. There they meet Tron, a helpful program, and with his assistance they’re able to eventually return home, though without having solved the issues of the computer world. However, Tron tells them to seek his user, Ansem, before sending them off!

Our heroes begin scouring Ansem’s study in the hopes of a clue, even getting interrupted by Tifa from Final Fantasy VII at one point! Eventually they do stumble upon something useful by accident, but before they can decipher it Mickey shows up! With his help they’re able to figure out the necessary password and return once again to the computer world. Even so, this doesn’t win the fight for them, and they’re forced into an intense battle with the MCP. Will our heroes be able to save the world inside the computer? And if they do, just what new information will they gain?

Back in the real world, Mickey informs Sora and crew that the man they thought was Ansem was actually an imposter, and was in fact Ansem’s apprentice. Furthermore, Ansem himself was actually a good guy, not the monster that Ansem’s apprentice was! Before the revelation can sink in though, our heroes are drawn into a battle with a swarm of heartless. Though they may be weak alone, can such a massive horde possibly taken down by the limited number of good guys? And just how will Sora react when he finds out that the Organization has been pulling his strings?

In Summary
This volume brings in a ton of action, some surprisingly nice little emotional moments, and a twist or two to tie everything together. The core of the volume is definitely the Tron section, which is fortunately a rather enjoyable story. We do also get some nice bits focusing on Kairi and, of all people, Pete, that help to flesh out their characters. Add in some solid pay-off for the Roxas story, and one of the silliest big twists of the series, and you have a solid but not super exceptional book. Thankfully, things also seem to be heating up again so it should be interesting to see how things continue to approach the end of the game, but for now this should keep fans satisfied at the very least.
