The anime adaptation of Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki’s manga Food Wars! finally has a bit of new information out about it. The series is set for a spring 2015 debut and there hasn’t been much new of note since the promo video we got back at the end of December. The next issue of Weekly Shonen Jump is hitting on Monday of next week and that means scans are starting to show up, which has revealed some additional casting for the show. The new cast additions include:
Maaya Uchida as Yūki Yoshino
Ai Kayano as Ryōko Sakaki
Taishi Murata as Shun Ibusaki
Yūsuke Kobayashi as Zenji Marui
Directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani, the series is being animated at JC Staff with Shogko Yasukawa handling the scripts and Tomoyuki Shitaya working on the character design adaptations. It’ll star Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Soma Yukihira, Risa Taneda as Erina Nakir, Megumi Tadokoro as Minami Takahashi and Ikumi Mito as Shizuka Ishigami.
The series is currently running in Weekly Shonen Jump by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki with ten volumes to its name so far. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America digitally and in print form.
Plot concept: Soma Yukihira’s old man runs a small family restaurant in the less savory end of town. Aiming to one day surpass his father’s culinary prowess, Soma hones his skills day in and day out until one day, out of the blue, his father decides to enroll Soma in a classy culinary school!
Can Soma really cut it in a place that prides itself on a 10 percent graduation rate? And can he convince the beautiful, domineering heiress to the school that he belongs there at all?!
