First Full ‘Insurgent’ Trailer Arrives

Insurgent HeaderWhile Divergent certainly wasn’t revolutionary, it was another entry into the young adult science fiction novel world that did decently, if only barely, at the box office and managed a sequel. I rather liked the film but found parts of it uneven. With the sequel, the directors chair has changed with Robert Schwentke coming in and the film definitely looks like it’ll benefit from it, especially as the locales are changing and we’re getting something a bit more wide ranging here.

Directed by Robert Schwentke, the film stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, Theo James, Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, Christian Madsen and Amy Newbold. The films are based on the novels by Veronica Roth.

Insurgent is set to debut on March 20th, 2015. Allegiant parts 1 & 2, are slated for release on March 18, 2016 and March 24, 2017, respectively.

Plot concept: INSURGENT raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the dystopian ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris (Woodley) and Four (James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.
