FUNimation has dropped a new clip onto their YouTube channel for Cowboy Bebop that, for many, will remind why it’s so easy to get into this show and just adore it from a stylistic sense alone. With the Asteroid Blues clip, we get the fantastic prologue piece with just music and no dialogue that sets up plenty of material before it leaps right into the opening theme song and sequence in a bold and colorful way.

You can take a look at the regular edition release covers here and the exclusive editions here. Set for release on December 16th, 2014 in regular DVD edition and Blu-ray edition in addition to retailer exclusive packaging at FUNimation itself and Amazon, there’s definitely going to be some hard choices ahead in terms of packaging and display.

Plot concept: The Bebop crew is just trying to make a buck. This motely lot of intergalactic loners teams up to track down fugitives and turn them in for cold hard cash. Spike is a hero whose cool facade hides a dark and deadly past. The pilot Jet is a bruiser of a brute who can’t wait to collect the next bounty. Faye Valentine is a femme fatale prone to breaking hearts and separating fools from their money. Along for the ride are the brilliant-but-weird hacker Ed and a super-genius Welsh Corgi named Ein. On their own, any one of them would be likely to get lost in the sprawl of space, but together, they’re the most entertaining gang of bounty hunters in the year 2071.
