2 min read

Dark Matter Volume 1The Syfy channel continues to acquire a lot of series for development, many of which are taking fans back into space in order to tell stories instead of cheaper to make earthbound pieces. The latest one to get the nod is Dark Matter, which is based on the graphic novel by Joseph Mallozzi and Garry Brown, which was published by Dark Horse Comics. The series, planned for a 2015 broadcast, is being produced with Produigy Pictures as a thirteen hour serial drama. The original work is one that comes from some name people of course with Mallozzi being part of the team behind Stargate.

“Dark Matter is a refreshing and entertaining space opera that blends an intriguing premise with fast-paced suspense. It will be a terrific addition to our prime time schedule next year”, said Chris Regina, SVP programming, Syfy.

Plot concept: The six-person crew of a derelict spaceship awakens from stasis in the farthest reaches of space. Their memories wiped clean, they haveno recollection of who they are or how they go on board. The only clue to their identities is a cargo bay full of weaponry and a destination—a remote mining colony that is about to become a war zone! With no idea whose side they are on, they face a deadly decision. Will these amnesiacs turn their backs onhistory, or will their pasts catch up with them?
