What They Say:
“Lost and Found Part Two”

Faith decided to stay in the employ of Deepscan when she found out that her next mission concerned the missing Riley Finn—a guy with whom she has a past. Now, Faith and a team of Slayers search the South American jungle for Riley, his wife, and a missing tycoon, Walt Zane. In London’s Magic Town, Angel does his best to aid the people transformed by the magical virus he helped cause—currently he’s occupied with the request from an old Wiccan friend, Amy Madison.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Amy’s up to bad stuff again, and it’s worse than ever. Nincompoop Warren was held together by magic and he went to goo when magic went bye-bye and now Amy wants to resurrect him with Angel’s help.

So that’s what’s going on with Angel. Not much in the way of characterization, just straight up plot. It’s a sacrifice of having these two stories going concurrently. As I’ve been saying, this comic needs focus. We’ve finally got some thematic focus at least. Both Angel and Faith are trying to redeem something they caused (Angel played a role in making magic go away and Faith screwed Riley), an ongoing theme in Angel and Faith’s characters since almost the beginning. Recall back to season three when Faith was teaming up with the principal; she was just trying to get her own semblance of family together. It was, of course, torn away and she went down an even darker path.

Angel’s story, at least, seems to be going in a direction. Koh seems to have shown up in Magic Town and the first thing he does is punch a guy in the face. Typical Koh…but he’s looking for someone. (It’s probably Angel.)

Faith’s story at this point is much more interesting. With Faith being put in charge due to the death of the commanding officer, it’s been excellent. She’s back at using her wits instead of relying on others—something she has done all too often (season three?).

She puts faith (excuse the pun) in the crotchety Major and, more importantly, has the support of everyone else. The old Faith was brash and hasty with her actions, but this new Faith knows the responsibility of another human life in her hands. She helped Slayers and all she wants to do now is right what’s wrong, even if that can never be done in her heart.

In Summary:
Another stellar issue for Faith and a little more setup for Angel. I’m glad we at least get the focus on Faith though as she has been a fantastic character ever since the Giles revival arc. Her face when Giles and Buffy embraced was heartbreaking and seeing her lead this team now is so uplifting.
