Charlene Ingram is making sure Sailor Moon fans are getting a good look at the upcoming first release of the classic Sailor Moon series on DVD and Blu-ray. The latest promotional piece is a close up look at the proof for the shimmery wrap that will be used for the box set of it, letting you see how it’ll look both with the foreground character artwork and the stars of the background.

The series is coming to DVD/BD combo pack on November 11th, 2014 with the first 23 episodes of the 200 episode run. This set contains episodes 1-23 plus an 88-page, full-color premium booklet, all housed in a shimmering chipboard art box. The on disc extras include Dub Recording Behind the Scenes, Art Galleries, Secret Announcement Panel & Fan Reactions, Official Announcement Trailer and the Clean Opening & Ending.

The new dub adaptation stars Stephanie Sheh as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon, Kate Higgins as Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury, Cristina Vee as Rei Hino/Sailor Mars, Amanda C. Miller as Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter, Cherami Leigh as Minako Aino/Sailor Venus, Robbie Daymond as Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask and Michelle Ruff as Luna. The series is being directed by Suzanne Goldish.

Plot concept: Usagi Tsukino is a clumsy but kindhearted teenage girl who transforms into the powerful guardian of love and justice, Sailor Moon. Meeting allies along the way who share similar fates, Usagi and her team of planetary Sailor Guardians fight to protect the universe from forces of evil and total annihilation.

  1. I have a few questions…
    1. Is there an English Dubbed? If so, why do the voices sound different? Why would there be different voice actors?
    2. If there is a English Dub, the trailer says “uncut scenes” and “no deleted scenes/episodes” and “no crops” can you explain that more? Is the English Dub for once going to have all the episodes this time just like original Japanese Dub? The episodes the same way as the Japanese Dub?
    3. How about the characters? Are the characters going to be the same like in the Original English Dub? Or will they be the same as the Japanese Dub this time? For example: Will Fish Eye and Cerconia be their normal genders? Will Kunzite be Kunzite or Malecite? And will he be with Zoisite as a gay couple or straight? Will Haruka and Michiru be cousins or be a lesbian couple?
    4. Does this package include the Original Japanese Dub? Does it include English subtitles? Are they different voices too? Or are they same? Are the Episodes really uncut/not deleted because I have 3rd and 4th season and they have both English Dub and Japanese Dub in each but Japanese Dub sort of followed the English Dub within the DVD so when if there was no English Dub episode on the disc but there was one for the Japanese, (since there are deleted episodes in the English Dub from the Japanese Dub) it was not on there. The Japanese part of the disc had the same deleted episodes as the English Dub did on the DVD.

So I really want to know that is this package certainly worth it? Or else I am just gonna buy regular older ones and live with it.

  2. It is English dubbed as well as the original Japanese. A new dub has been made for the series since there is no uncut dub from the original one done back in the 90’s.

The 90’s show was heavily edited for US TV broadcast and the company that released it back then cut numerous scenes and entire episodes at times.

This release is fully bilingual and pretty much released the way it should be with proper names, subs and so forth.
