As we get just over a week away from the release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on July 11th, 2014, the marketing team has done something really great here. There’s a three year gap between the first movie and this one in terms of release, but in the continuity there’s a ten year gap. And things really go to hell pretty quickly as the Simian Flu pandemic ravages the world. What they’ve put together here are three different shorts that fills in some of the blanks that some folks will really enjoy. The first two clock in between five and six minutes but the third one, the story of the gun, runs for thirteen minutes and is thoroughly engaging to watch as it unfolds. Spend a little time and get acquainted with how the world turned after Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The film is being directed by Matt Reeves and will star Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell. It has a $120 million budget, a nearly $30 million increase over Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but expected as that film brought in nearly $480 million theatrically worldwide and was a surprise hit for many.

Plot concept: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
