Warner Bros. made some positive news, albeit met with skepticism that comes from fans based on their handling of properties for so long, with the announcement of Justice League film and some minor casting for it alongside bringing Zack Snyder along for that feature. But mixed into all of this was news from them that they have a few more movies in various states of development:

Warner has now entrusted its core superheroes to “Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder, who will helm “Superman vs. Batman” and then “Justice League.” It also has nine other movies based on DC comics in development.

That naturally gets the speculation machine going. First, we have to look at what’s already known and scheduled of the nine:

  1. Superman vs. Batman
  2. Justice League
  3. Sandman
  4. Shazam
  5. Metal Men
  6. 100 Bullets

These films are in various states of development but they’ve been publicly talked about in varying degrees for a bit, so it’s expected that they’re six of the nine. With the first two being obvious ones based on this weeks news, we also have the recent confirmed movement on the Sandman film. The other three are a bit hazier, but we’ve not heard anything to say that they’re dead in the water at the moment.

Beyond that, there’s a few other possibilities. Last year they was a lot of talk about a Flash movie, but that may be sidelined to let the new TV series take shape. We’ve also been hearing for awhile about Guillermo del Toro’s plans for a Justice League Dark movie and that seems like it’s still a safe bet as the studio wants to keep working with him after Pacific Rim. And we’ll even believe that a Wonder Woman movie should be in the mix as well based on Gal Gadot being contracted for a standalone film in addition to the first two on the list. With Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment growing their TV slate as well, they definitely have a slew of things on tap and it’ll be interesting to see if any of these nine beyond the first three end up going into full development.
